Artistic Development: About the Leitalift Internship
Synchronicity and the Leitalift Foundation began a partnership in 2004 to sponsor
one intern annually. The criteria for selection includes financial need,
artistic promise and a desire to work long-term in the theatre. The candidate
has to be a young woman who would benefit from mentorship with women theatre
artists and getting practical experience in both the managerial and artistic
areas. The six-month internship offers a $1,000 stipend.
Leita Thompson, a hard working single woman herself, for many years personally
and through the Leitalift Foundation she founded, made it possible for working
women to enjoy a fuller life by providing housing on her property. Since her
death, her property, over 700 acres, was given to the City of Roswell for a
permanent green space. Beginning in 2001 the Leitalift Foundation has been
granting scholarships to deserving young women to assist them in furthering
their education to achieve a fuller life.
