Not all of our work is in front of the lights.
At Synchronicity, we are dedicated to giving back to the community and mentoring
young girls.
Playmaking for Girls is a community outreach program, dedicated to engaging
young women in the creation of theatre as a tool for creative expression,
community healing and personal growth. The program consists of five components,
each with a specific intention and focus.
The Playmaking for Girls program is supported by the Atlanta Women's Foundation,
SunTrust Brightwings, Georgia Council for the Arts, Fulton County Arts Council and individual donors.
Detention Center Workshops
Each year, we conduct eight 2-day workshops at Regional Youth Detention
Centers in Georgia.
Public Performance
In June of each year, we present a one-night only performance of eight
plays created during the Detention Center Workshops.
After-school Program
Two days each week for 8 weeks, our artists will work with 12-14 middle-school
girls to develop self confidence, proficiency with theatre skills and a
strong sense of ensemble through the use of use theatre techniques.
Satellite Workshops
Through several community partnerships, our teachers will present
short-term workshops in both middle and high schools.
